Deer Haven Park
Deer Haven Park is a unique wildlife sanctuary near Seneca Lake that occupies a portion of the former Seneca Army Depot, a US military munitions storage facility that was closed to the public for over 70 years. The park is home to the rare and majestic Seneca white deer, a herd of white-tailed deer with a genetic mutation that makes them mostly white - as well as other animals, such as wild turkeys, beavers, and bald eagles.
Your options for visiting Deer Haven Park are either a bus tour or an auto tour. The bus tour is a 90-minute guided tour that takes visitors inside munition storage igloos and explores other features of the park. The auto tour is a self-guided tour that allows visitors to drive their own vehicle through the park with a tablet that acts as a virtual tour guide. Both tours offer a chance to see the Seneca white deer and learn about the unique history and mystery of the Seneca Army Depot.
